Medusa Code of Conduct
For those coming to Medusa, our aim is to make your stay as beneficial, enjoyable and safe as possible, for these reasons we would be grateful if you could take a moment to read this short document. Please contact a member of our staff if you have any questions concerning this information sheet or are unable to obtain any information that you require.
• Please make yourself familiar with evacuation procedures in your hall of residence in the event of fire. If you cannot find these in your room speak to your hall porter and ask for information. Evacuation from lecture theatres in an emergency will be from the clearly labelled exits.
• For your own safety and that of others, please do not be tempted to bed-down on another person’s floor or invite outsiders into the halls. Should a fire occur we will not know that you are there or lives could be risked searching in a building whilst you are elsewhere.
• The university takes maintenance of safety equipment very seriously; anyone tampering with fire extinguishers can expect the university authorities to deal severely with them.
• Smoking in the halls is prohibited and will likely trigger the smoke alarms in your room. In these instances a charge will be made by the university to reset the alarm.
• For light bulbs and other domestic matters please contact the hall porter.
• Never walk back from the lectures on your own in
the evening, indeed avoid walking by yourself on the campus
at all times. Whilst the campus is essentially safe, this
is a wise precaution that you should follow for your own
safety.
• Your possessions are your responsibility, so keep your valuables on you at all times. ALWAYS ensure that windows and doors to your room are secure as you are responsible for your room until you return your key and may be charged for any damage that occurs in or to your room.
• Please phone your parents/guardians to let them know you have arrived safely.
• In the event of a medical emergency ring the University
24 hour security details will be given on arrival.
• If you see or hear anti-social behaviour please
contact security and your information will be treated in
the strictest confidence.
• Alcohol and prohibited substances are forbidden on the campus. Anyone found in possession of these items will be asked to leave the conference without refund.
• Anti-social behaviour of any kind either inside or outside the lecture rooms will not be tolerated and in the interest of other students and staff, offenders will be asked to remove themselves from the conference without refund.
• Please return your room key as instructed on the
day of your departure. If the university does not have your
key they will levy a fine.
Please remember you are guests of the university and are sharing the environment with other young people. Follow the above rules for your own safety and out of respect for your fellow students and staff. Most of all have a great time whilst you are here and benefit as thousands of students have from our conferences.
Best Wishes
The Medusa Team
PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE CAMPUS AND REMEMBER in
the event of any problems contact security.
