THE EXTRAS

This is a unique opportunity open to all attending Medusa to gain an experience of immense personal and professional value to a future doctor. This training will allow you to genuinely make a difference should you find yourself with anyone who requires resuscitation from heart attack through to drowning, electrocution trauma or drug overdose. We also include the opportunity to achieve this experience to further strengthen and support your future application. Below are the main features of the session:

RAPID RESPONSE LIFE SUPPORT
All who successfully pass this section will be presented with a certificate of attendance during the Medusa award ceremony.

  • Peri arrest (recognizing the patient is in trouble before they arrest).
  • Life support. Maintaining the circulation artificially to support vital organs.
  • Resuscitation of the casualty.
  • Post resuscitation care.
  • Adult and child resuscitation.
  • Special cases: electrocution, drowning, etc

 

St. GEORGE'S MEDUSA SUMMER MEDICAL SCHOLARSHIP:

Open to all attending MEDUSA, St. George’s University, Grenada, will be holding a competition during the MEDUSA conference, and the winners of this competition will be awarded a scholarship to attend the exciting ten day Camp Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. The Camp Medicine experience allows the student to gain first hand experience about what it takes to become a doctor. More details can be found by clicking here

EUROPE FOR MEDUSA GRADUATES:

At no extra cost (other than travel, meals and accommodation) all MEDUSA graduates will be invited to be guests of the 1st Faculty of Medicine, Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic. During dates to be arranged, students will be escorted to the beautiful city of Prague, to be housed in university accommodation. They will then follow actual ward rounds, visit a number of departments in the Faculty of Medicine and have the opportunity to fully explore medicine as taught in Prague. In addition there will be the chance to meet with medical students and sample the social life of one of Europe’s most ancient and beautiful capital cities.
